R&B star RAYE issued a public apology on X after multiple fans were denied entry to one of her concerts. The By Your Side singer detailed the cause and offered complimentary gifts to affected fans.
RAYE posted a social media message on February 17, revealing that 65 ticket holders were denied entry to her show in Paris on Sunday night. “This is unacceptable and wrong,” she wrote. The singer revealed that the issues were due to a Ticketmaster system error.
“65 tickets were not fully validated when they were purchased,” RAYE explained. “This was outside of anything I could control, and I feel saddened and let down.” The Escapism singer said she is aware that everyone affected was issued a refund and a voucher by Ticketmaster. However, she also wanted to compensate her disappointed showgoers in some other way.
“I’d like to offer all of these 65 people who didn’t get in to the show complimentary tickets to any Raye future show of their choice and a signed vinyl,” the singer wrote. “I know this doesn’t even remotely make up for this mess, but it’s all I can think of in the moment to soften the blow.” The post concludes, “My deepest apologies to those of you affected. Love Raye.”
RAYE’s post quickly garnered over 170k likes, with many commenters appreciating the gesture. One commenter, who claims they are one of the 65 people affected by the ticket blunder, replied, “It was truly heartbreaking, but seeing your message today meant more than I can even explain. Your music and journey have genuinely inspired me in ways you probably don’t realize.”
Several other comments say that other artists should take notes, with many noting that RAYE is apologizing for a mistake on Ticketmaster’s end. Another social media user replied, “THIS is how you treat your fans who were cheated or scammed out of their concert experience due to Ticketmaster errors.”
Per Rolling Stone, a spokesperson for Ticketmaster said a “small number of fans experienced a technical issue when entering the show,” in a statement. “While we know it doesn’t replace the show, we have fully refunded those affected and provided a gift card,” they added.
Earlier this month, Demi Lovato canceled five concerts on her upcoming “It’s Not That Deep” tour to “protect” her health. The singer admitted she had overextended on social media and apologized to disappointed fans who had planned to attend. The Heart Attack singer also noted that a show in Orlando was rescheduled from April 10 to April 13 and that tickets for the 10th would still be honored.
