The rector of the UNAM, Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas, informed that the “security protocols” will be reviewed to achieve “safe and free spaces of violence”, after a 16 -year -old student, lost his life after being stabbed by another student with a white weapon inside the facilities, which also left an injured worker.

“I have instructed the General Secretariat to convene the Baccalaureate Subcommittee of the Special Security Commission of the University Council, so that you meet immediately and proceed to review the security protocols of the campus,” Lomelí said Tuesday in a statement.

The manager condemned the acts of violence and commented that “it is necessary to redouble efforts to make our educational schools and all our facilities, safe and free spaces of violence”, after the attack of Lex Ashton ‘N’, 19, with a white weapon to Jesús Israel ‘N’, South campus, located in the Mayor’s Office of Coyoacán.

He also confirmed that UNAM has made available to the university community “orientation programs, psychological accompaniment and gender perspective.”

According to the first inquiries, around 1:00 p.m., a student identified as Lex Ashton “N” attacked Jesus Israel “N” with a white weapon, who lost his life in school parking.

The Attorney General of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) reported that the case is being investigated for “qualified homicide and malicious injuries” and confirmed that a worker, who tried to stop the event, was injured, so he was taken to a hospital to receive medical care.

He also pointed out that the alleged responsible “was transferred to a hospital, where he currently remains in custody of the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC).”

In the morning, President Claudia Sheinbaum asked to investigate violent events and announced that research is waiting.

“We are waiting for the investigations, I asked the Ministry of the Interior to approach the family and (we will cooperate with the National Autonomous University of Mexico in what determines that we can help,” said the president during her morning press conference.

Sheinbaum pointed out that the government has a program for peace and addictions, which seeks to promote dialogue and peaceful activities within schools.
