President Claudia Sheinbaum assured businessmen from Mexico and the United States that none of the constitutional reforms promoted by Andrés Manuel López Obrador represent a problem, but rather they strengthen the rule of law.

“Of course, none of these reforms represent a problem for investment in Mexico, on the contrary, what we call the Rule of Law will be strengthened and the National Electrical System will be strengthened,” he stated after the CEO Dialogue México meeting. USA.

The president specified that at the meeting doubts were clarified and there was also talk of establishing working groups through the Ministry of Economy on reforms, such as the judicial or electrical reforms.

“(It was agreed) that we maintain working tables through the Ministry of Economy, which will be convening the Ministry of Energy and the different secretariats that will allow for dialogue in the event of any doubt,” he added at a press conference to give details. of the meeting with businessmen.

“In the case of the reform of the Judiciary, what we have always said in any forum is that the president does not want to have control of the Judiciary, that is not the objective of the reform. If that had been the objective, we would have made another reform, a reform like that of ’94, for example, which replaced all the ministers of the Supreme Court and appointed 11 new ministers,” said Sheinbaum.

“And having a majority in the Senate, we were sure of who we wanted to arrive. The objective is not to have control of the Judiciary, it is false, what we want is a Judiciary free of corruption, that gives legal certainty to ordinary citizens, to the person with the least economic resources in the country and also to the investor,” he pointed out.

The president asserted that judicial reform seeks to ensure that everyone is equal before the law, which is what the Constitution says, and what the constitutions of democratic countries say: “We believe that the best way is through a democratic process. “That was what we said and what we have always said.”

On the energy issue, he reiterated that the CFE will produce 54% of electricity generation and investments in transmission and distribution, for which there are “clear financing schemes.”

For this reason, he added, there is a potential of 46% not only of what already exists in private investment, but for more growth, particularly in renewable energy sources.

“What this represents is, simply, under this scheme, what are the clear investment rules, what are the clear connection rules, the clear market rules and at the same time the strength of our own energy company,” he indicated.
