Everything about Genshin Impact 6.4 has been officially revealed by developer HoYoverse, including its release date, details about the new playable character, the banner structure, story updates, events, and much more. The action RPG is heading toward the end of Version 6.3 and getting ready for the arrival of the next patch. The new pieces of content were presented during the Genshin Impact 6.4 livestream.

A lot of the information that was officially presented by HoYoverse had already been leaked before, thanks to the Version 6.4 beta tests. Most of the leaks focused on the new playable character Varka in Genshin Impact 6.4, and the livestream essentially confirmed what we already knew about him. It was already expected that this update would reduce the amount of playable content in comparison to the four previous patches, too, and the special event now confirmed it.

The New Update Arrives On Schedule

Following the conclusion of the livestream, HoYoverse confirmed the release date for the next patch. As was previously expected, given that the RPG follows a strict schedule and hasn’t seen any delays in years, the Genshin Impact 6.4 update will arrive on February 25 across all platforms on which the game is available. Depending on your time zone, the maintenance may end on February 24 at night, which would enable you to play before the announced date.

With the confirmation of the release date, it’s very unlikely that the update will be pushed back or delayed in any way. When the game is undergoing issues that require a postponement, the developer tends to either announce it beforehand, like it did with Honkai: Star Rail 4.0’s delayed release, or push back the livestream. Since neither of those things happened, it’s safe to schedule yourself for the release in late February.

The special event also served as a stage for HoYoverse to present the limited-time livestream codes. In total, the developer shared three different promo codes, all of which can be redeemed for in-game rewards, including Mora and other resources. However, the most notable part of the codes is the free Primogems you can get by redeeming them. You can obtain up to 300 free Primogems if you redeem all three of the codes (100x Primogems per code).

The table below lists all three Genshin Impact 6.4 livestream codes and their respective rewards:

Genshin Impact 6.4 Codes

VarkaArrives

The aforementioned livestream codes are limited and must be redeemed before they expire on February 15 at 11 pm ET. After that, they cannot be redeemed anymore. To redeem them, you can either use the in-game Redemption Code tool in the settings or the official Genshin Impact website. Once redeemed, you’ll need to claim the rewards from your in-game mailbox to use them.

New Character & Banners In Genshin Impact 6.4

Varka Will Finally Be Playable

As had been teased, there will only be one new playable character in Version 6.4, following a patch that brought three units (namely Columbina, Illuga, and Zibai in Genshin Impact). Varka is a new 5-star Anemo character who fights with a claymore – though his animations show him wielding two claymores. He had been presented as an NPC before, but players may finally get to control him if they are able to pull him from the banner.

Varka’s kit in Genshin Impact shows that he is the main DPS of the team comp. With his Skill, Varka will leap towards the opponent and deal Anemo with one of his swords, while his second sword will be infused with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo, depending on the members that form his team comp. This will enable him to trigger Swirl reactions without necessarily relying on character swaps to apply elements beforehand.

With his Ultimate, Varka unleashes a powerful attack that deals Anemo DMG and the corresponding Elemental DMG, somewhat like his Skill. Varka will also have special benefits as a Hexerei character in Genshin Impact, which will make him work well with characters like Durin, Fischl, Mona, Klee, and more.

HoYoverse also announced the banner structure for the period. During Phase 1, players will be able to pull for Varka and Flins, while Phase 2 will feature reruns of Skirk and Escoffier, as had been previously leaked. The Chronicled Wish for Mondstadt characters also makes a return.

Story Updates & Events In Genshin Impact 6.4

The Game Will Focus On Varka & Mondstadt

In terms of playable story content, the game will move away a bit from the Nod-Krai story arc, as it reached its climax in Version 6.3. The majority of the story-related content in Version 6.4 will be centered around Varka and Mondstadt. This will be presented in two major ways. The first is Varka’s Story Quest, which will focus on the character, allowing you to get to know him better.

The second form is through the Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind event, which will have correlated story quests set in the Nation of Freedom. This flagship event will have story quests to progress through as time passes by, while also participating in activities. Aside from the Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind event, there will be other limited-time events to participate in, allowing you to get more resources and, primarily, Primogems.

There will be a lot to do in Version 6.4, such as facing a new world boss in Nod-Krai, even as the game slows down following the climax of the Nod-Krai arc presented in the previous patch. This will be a good opportunity to farm resources and materials to upgrade all your characters in Genshin Impact.
