While Leon gets a modern, autosave-heavy experience, Classic makes it so that Grace will need a steady supply of Ink Ribbons to bookmark her progress throughout the story.

Resident Evil Requiem tends to place Ink Ribbons in convenient locations, but you’ll want to scrounge up every ribbon you can to avoid losing any more progress than necessary. Ink Ribbons come in two types in Resident Evil Requiem. Along with standard Ink Ribbons that work out of the box, you’ll also find some empty Ink Ribbon tins that can be crafted into usable Ink Ribbons. You won’t immediately have a use for these, as you’ll need to be able to harvest some blood first, but they’re worth picking up and tucking away in storage boxes. Once you’re deep enough into Grace’s story, crafting Ink Ribbons may very well become your best method of supply.

Many Ink Ribbons and tins can be found near typewriters, but some are also tucked away in comparatively random locations. While you can typically expect to find only one Ink Ribbon at a time, empty tins sometimes come in pairs or trios.

As long as you’re diligent about collecting Ink Ribbons and tins, you should be able to play Resident Evil Requiem on Classic without suffering too much for it. Just make sure to save before you ever attempt anything too risky, or when you’ve just completed a fairly lengthy segment of gameplay. While spending those precious Ink Ribbons might feel scary, the steady supply of Ink Ribbons introduced with new typewriters means that you shouldn’t have to worry too much about a dwindling supply in Resident Evil Requiem.
