After the longest wait in franchise history, we’re finally only a few weeks away from when you can jump right into Resident Evil Requiem and its post-apocalyptic version of Raccoon City. Although Capcom hasn’t officially announced more specifics about its launch outside a release date, a recent leak will make sure you’re prepared to jump in without any extra waiting.

As reported by PlayStationSize on X, Requiem’s download size and preload date have been leaked ahead of release, with the game requiring a hefty 72.88 GB of drive space. While Requiem might require you to clear up some space to make room for its hefty size beforehand, the preload date of February 25 offers plenty of buffer to download the game in advance for those with slower connections.

Resident Evil Requiem’s Install Size Is Formidable

Capcom Might Be Hiding Another Surprise For Launch

Even if Resident Evil Requiem‘s rumored 72.88 install size might not seem that bad compared to the absurd file sizes of triple-A titles reaching into the hundreds nowadays, it’s easily the biggest entry in the series at launch, well before the additions of any DLC or optional downloads like higher resolution textures.

While the most recent Resident Evil 4 remake previously held the title for the biggest launch release without any DLC, its current download size of roughly 57 GB is considerably lower in comparison. Given how large the Resident Evil titles seem to be getting with each release, both in scope and visual fidelity, we can only speculate how much bigger the next game after Requiem will wind up being.

Although it does make sense that Requiem would be much larger given how long it’s been since the last brand-new entry in the series with Resident Evil Village, some fans have also speculated that Requiem will be releasing with some form of free DLC at launch that is boosting these numbers, be it the return of another highly requested Mercenaries mode or other optional downloads.

You’ll Be Able To Start An Early Download Soon

With how fast Resident Evil Requiem‘s release date keeps getting, it’s likely too late for Capcom to release a gameplay demo for fans to try out the latest survival horror entry, but an advanced preload window is still a welcome addition for anyone who doesn’t want to keep waiting to experience its visceral and horrifying action for themselves.

Although not much information has been given about Requiem‘s global launch times, the same leak reporting the file size and preload date of February 25 also noted that Requiem would be a midnight release.

Even if there isn’t much time for Capcom to reveal another returning character, it seems there is still plenty to look forward to that Capcom hasn’t been entirely transparent about so far with Resident Evil Requiem, and how much content will be available at launch.
