The Olmeca de Pemex refinery has been out of service since Monday due to an energy cut in the plant, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The refinery, located in Dos Bocas, Tabasco, will try to restart the units on Thursday, said one of the sources. Pemex did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

Olmeca, the newest Pemex refinery and with 340,000 barrels per day (BPD) of capacity, has intensified its operations in recent months after several delays in its implementation and cost overruns, but is still far from reaching its full capacity.

The refinery processed 156,265 BPD in July, less than half of its total capacity, according to the most recent official data, which realized that it produced 57,275 BPD of gasoline and 76,980 BPD of diesel in the seventh month of the year.
