Mexico City. – In colonies where the income grows arbitrarily, “that will no longer be able to pass,” warned the head of government, Clara Brugada, when presenting the first actions of her administration against gentrification in the capital, according to a report by the Quadratín Mexico Agency.
During an event in the Zocalo, the local president explained that her government promotes the side of a government, a plan with 14 measures that seek to guarantee an affordable city, with local identity and roots.
He stressed that income prices may not increase above inflation, temporary accommodations will be regulated and popular housing will be promoted in areas where the inhabitants are being displaced today.
Brugada endorsed his respect for the right to the demonstration, after the second march against the gentrification held on Sunday.
He clarified that although the mobilization was peaceful, a group caused destruction in the University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC), within the UNAM campus.
He rejected the violent events and said that the police did not enter the university, in respect of their autonomy.

“Force is in ideas, not in violence,” he said and added that lasting transformations are achieved with collective organization, public debate and citizen participation.
The security operation concluded with a white balance and was attended by 400 elements of various dependencies of the capital government.
