The legendary player, Robinson Canó, has found in Mexico a new opportunity to continue making history in baseball. A year ago, the former star of the Major Leagues joined the Red Devils to contribute their vast experience to the capital team.
Before his foray into the Mexican Baseball League (LMB), Canó had an outstanding trajectory in the Major Leagues, where he dressed the New York Yankees uniforms, Seattle Mariners and New York Mets, among other teams. His arrival at the ninth scarlet was key in last season, in which the devils achieved their title number 17.
Canó’s impact on the LMB was immediate when it arrived last season. The campaign as MVP ended, in addition to taking the title of “Champion Bat” after registering an impressive batting average of .431, with 141 unstoppable in 327 shifts. His performance consolidated him as one of the maximum figures of Mexican baseball.

“At the group level, winning the championship would be what I would look for. At the individual level I like to stay healthy, I do not like to put numbers, because you get pressure yourself,” he said.
The memory of the championship
The 2024 title did not come without difficulties. The devils began at a disadvantage in the series against Oaxaca, but achieved a spectacular comeback that gave them the championship.
“My skin enchina when you remember that moment. The key was that as a team we kept positive, focused and we knew what we were as a team. We kept that positive harmony all the time,” said the Dominican.
The scarlets ended the season with an impressive 71-19 record, consolidating themselves as the most dominant team in the tournament.
The level of the LMB and the departure of Bauer
Canó also talked about the competitive level of the Mexican Baseball League and its evolution in terms of infrastructure and business.
“The infrastructure is very good, there is good coordination, it is well structured and more now for foreigners. Sports now there are 21 (foreign players) that gives more power to the league,” he said.
He also referred to the departure of Trevor Bauer, who will play in the Japanese league with the Yokohama Dena Baystars in 2025.
“If there is someone who is going to need, it’s him. We’re going to miss him,” Canó confessed.
Love for baseball and scarlet fans
With a career full of successes, Canó does not hesitate to point out that his most special moment was to win the World Series with the Yankees in 2009.
“It is the dream of every player, and the way I did, with the last out, makes it even more special,” he recalled.
Finally, the Dominican praised the support of the fans of the Red Devils, highlighting his passion and unconditional delivery.
“The fans is the key, his energy is what motivates us, he had not seen a hobby that meets in all games and maintains energy no matter the results of the game,” he said.
For Canó, baseball is not just a sport, but its entire life.
“Baseball for me is everything, I carry it in the blood. I love what I do, I Sangro Baseball,” he concluded.
