Rosalía revealed her “admiration” for “holy women” and “feminine mystique” in the face of a world in need of “a faith, a certainty”, during the presentation in Mexico of her new album, ‘Lux’, which will be published this Friday, November 7.

“I am very interested in feminine mystique. The album is inspired by holy women from around the world,” the Spanish singer told reporters, who mentioned the names of Saint Rose of Lima, Saint Teresa of Jesus or Hildegard of Bingen.

The album includes songs with titles such as ‘Sex, Violence and Tires’, ‘God is a Stalker’, ‘Sauvignon Blanc’, ‘La Rumba del Perdon’, ‘La Perla’, ‘Reliquia’ and ‘Mio Cristo’, in which genres such as flamenco, opera, electronica and pop are mixed.

“I feel devotion to music,” remarked the author of ‘El mal quer’.

The singer offered a press conference last Thursday in a luxurious hotel in the Mexican capital and in front of a small number of media outlets, including EFE, which was preceded by listening to the entire album in which the lyrics of the songs were projected, in which she uses numerous languages in addition to Spanish, such as Italian, Portuguese, English, Japanese and Catalan.

Rosalía, 33, stated that she would like to “wish less” and that the writing period has allowed her to look inward, emphasizing that it is an album in which she tells her truth “here and now.”

The visit to Mexico also coincided with the celebration of the Day of the Dead, one of the great festivities of the North American country.

“The references to religion are from admiration. It is not provocation,” she said when asked about the cover on which she appears dressed in a white nun’s habit.

The author of ‘Saoko’ and ‘Bizcochito’ admitted that she was uncomfortable in today’s world due to the prevailing confusion due to the constant excess of stimuli, fake news and artificial intelligence with “videos of talking cats.”

“Faith, certainty, is more necessary than ever,” he stressed.

On the other hand, he explained that in ‘Lux’, unlike in previous albums, “the word comes before the music” and “the music is at the service of the word.”

More than three years after the success of ‘Motomami’, Rosalía releases ‘Lux’ together with Columbia Records and Sony Music, an album in which artists such as Björk, Carminho, Estrella Morente, Silvia Pérez Cruz and Yves Tumor collaborate, among others.

On October 27, he released the song ‘Berghain’, accompanied by a video, a song that joins ‘Divinize’, ‘Porcelana’, ‘Mundo Nuevo’, ‘De madrugá’, ‘La jugular’, ‘Memoria’ and ‘Magnolias’.

The digital edition of ‘Lux’ is made up of 15 songs and the CD and vinyl editions reach 18, with the addition of ‘Focu ‘ranni’, ‘Jeanne’ and ‘Novia robot’.

A work whose launch he announced on October 20 with a message on one of the iconic screens in Times Square (New York).

That same day, the album cover was projected on the screens in Madrid’s Plaza de Callao, where the singer was briefly seen among the thousands of followers gathered in that emblematic location in the center of the Spanish capital, where she had gathered her fans for an event related to the release of the album.

Rosalía, accompanied by some people from her team, drove a car through the streets of Madrid towards Callao, while a countdown was broadcast on the screens in the square.

Around 10:00 p.m. local time, she ran out of the vehicle, followed by some fans, and entered a nearby hotel.
