Walt Disney has become the only studio to exceed $2 billion at the US theatrical box office in 2024, thanks to its hits ‘Inside Out 2’, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine ‘ and ‘Moana 2’.
Specifically, ‘Inside Out 2’ and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ lead ticket sales in the US ranking, with $652 million and $636 million in revenue, respectively, according to the specialized website Box Office Mojo.
While the second part of ‘Moana’, which premiered on November 27, is ranked number 5, with box office receipts of $339 million.
In this way, ‘Inside Out 2’ is crowned the eleventh highest-grossing film in history and the first highest-grossing animated film, while ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the twelfth highest-grossing film of all time, according to Deadline.
The films ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ (171 million dollars) and ‘Alien: Romulus’ (105 million dollars) also stood out this year at the box office.

This is the second time that Disney has exceeded 2 billion in box office earnings since 2019 and the seventh time it has achieved this since 2010.
These data, which include the film projects of the studios 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures – both owned by Disney – are expected to increase even more with the premiere this Friday of ‘Mufasa’, the prequel to ‘The Lion King’, and of the biopic of Bob Dylan at Christmas, starring Timothée Chalamet.
The studio thus exceeds the box office figures it obtained in 2023 with films that were not as successful, such as ‘The Marvels’ or ‘Wish’.
