From January to December 2024, 1 million 496 thousand 806 new cars were sold in Mexico, which represented an increase of 9.8% compared to 2023 sales.

At the top of 2024 sales was the Nissan car brand, with 17% of the total sales seen in the country.

The manufacturer General Motors obtained the second highest level of sales in Mexico, covering 13.7% of what was sold until December. Volkswagen took third place, with 11.8%, according to official figures released this Monday.

Compared to November, the sale of new cars in December showed a drop of 1.1%, since only 146,365 cars were sold in the twelfth month of the year.

“The light vehicle market in December was lower than estimated by AMDA (whose forecast) stood at 155,679 units,” commented Guillermo Rosales, executive president of the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors.

“The estimate had a percentage difference of -6% with respect to the observed data of 146,365 units,” he explained.
