Ricardo Salinas Pliego pointed out in El Salvador that the accusations of money laundering against two of his companies dedicated to gaming are “just politics.”

“We are accused of money laundering. Nothing, it’s just politics,” he said in English during his participation as a speaker at the inauguration of a bitcoin conference taking place in the Historic Center of San Salvador.

“In a new example of the factious use of the State apparatus to besiege Grupo Salinas on all fronts, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (PFF) and the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) reported today an investigation into various casino brands for alleged money laundering,” Grupo Salinas said yesterday in a statement.

The group specified that among these companies “is Ganador Azteca SAPl de CV, and Operadora Ganador TV Azteca, SAPl de CV, subsidiary companies of TV Azteca.”

Salinas Pliego maintained that this action would have taken place because: “I am on the political spectrum and the current regime hates us,” without mentioning the government of Claudia Sheinbaum.

The businessman hinted, in October, that he could enter the field of politics while echoing a possible presidential candidacy in Mexico.

Bitcoin no es confiscable

Within the framework of the inauguration of the bitcoin conference, a private event that brings together foreign cryptocurrency enthusiasts, Salinas Pliego highlighted that bitcoin “is the only asset that cannot be confiscated.”

“I own a bank in Mexico. I also have a bank in Guatemala, another in Honduras and another in Panama. I know that we have 22 million people in our bank in Mexico and any of those people can see how the government confiscates their savings immediately,” he said.

He also pointed out that “the financial system, all the banks and the entire financial system are tools of the government and tools of profiteers and parasites to take your money.”
