The Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported that taxpayers with debts can regularize their tax situation through payment facilities that can be up to 36 installments and a reduction of up to 100% of the fine.

Individuals and legal entities with debts determined by the authority or with self-determined debts (declarations) can request payment in installments, reduction of fines and surcharge rates, according to a statement.

The SAT specified that in payment in installments, the taxpayer can choose between two modalities:

Payment in installments: The debt can be settled in up to 36 months, with an initial payment of at least 20% and a fixed interest rate, according to the chosen installments:

  • From 1 to 12 months the rate is 1.26%
  • From 13 to 24 months the rate is 1.53%
  • From 25 to 36 months the rate is 1.82%

Deferred payment: With an initial payment of at least 20%, the taxpayer can choose when he or she wants to settle the rest of the debt in a single payment, within a period of no more than 12 months.

Additionally, interested parties can request a reduction of up to 100% of the fine, depending on the age of the sanction, as well as a reduction in the surcharge rate.

The SAT indicated that it is important that the taxpayer make the payment of the non-reduced portion within the period granted, so that the benefits take effect.

The supervisory body explained that each case is particular, so it asked taxpayers to schedule an appointment at cita.sat.gob.mx, click on Register appointment, choose the option “Debits and Fines” and go to the office at the date and time chosen to know the amount of the debt and the payment facilities.
