Blocks in key avenues, interruptions to public transport and protests in front of federal units marked the second consecutive day of mobilizations of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) in Mexico City, Mexico, According to a note from the Quadratín website.

The actions, which included the closure of accesses to the National Palace and seedlings in front of the Government and the Treasury, seek to press the Government of Claudia Sheinbaum to meet a sheet of demands headed by the abrogation of the ISSSTE Law of 2007, the repeal of the 2013 educational reform and a salary increase of 100%.

Lee: Sheinbaum says that there is ‘permanent dialogue’ with teachers despite blockages and protests

From an early hour, dozens of buses with contingents from different entities of the country occupied the central lanes of Paseo de la Reforma, while in the capital Zócalo the camp installed since May 15 continues.

On Wednesday, the CNTE intensified its protest when taking the accesses of the National Palace, preventing the entry of reporters to the morning conference of President Sheinbaum.

Although the plant has more than a week, the teaching dissent has warned that it will not withdraw its actions until receiving a specific response from the new federal government.
