The new Secretary of the Treasury, Edgar Amador Zamora, ruled out a tariff war with the United States.
“I think there will be no war of tariffs, we have a very solid commercial framework, a stable fiscal policy and that will be isolated from any volatility,” he said in his appearance before the Commission of Finance and Public Credit of the Chamber of Deputies, in which his ratification was discussed in front of the agency.
The official said that the government is convinced that honoring the North American Commercial Treaty is the basis that regulates the commercial relationship between Mexico and its partners.
In addition, he emphasized that this is the strategy to follow, and said they will continue to insist and maintain dialogue in that sense.
The arrival of Amador Zamora is produced in full commercial tensions with the United States, which have caused volatility in the markets, and the perspectives of deceleration of the Mexican economy in 2025.
