MEXICO CITY, (EFE) .- The holiday period of Holy Week 2025 left economic benefits in Mexico for 144,948 million pesos, which represented an increase of 5.4% compared to 2024, said the Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora.
From Saturday 12 to Sunday, April 20, 3.43 million tourists lodged in hotel rooms throughout the country, of which 73.1% were national and 26.9% international, said the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) this Monday in a statement.
In this same period, hotel occupancy averaged 67.7% at the country level, 3.2% more compared to the previous year.
Guerrero’s destinations, such as Taxco, reached 100% occupation, while Acapulco, one of the country’s main tourist destinations, reported 95.2% and Ixtapa at 95.3%.
Rodríguez Zamora stressed that these figures were possible thanks to the joint work of the municipal, state and federal governments, to the improvement in the tourist infrastructure and the security conditions that led to the growth of the sector during these dates.

He also highlighted the performance of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, as one of the most visited destinations, by registering more than 607,000 tourists and a hotel occupancy of 91%.
With this influx, an expense of 1.8 billion pesos was generated and the arrival of 4,282 cruise tourists.
In total, Sinaloa accounted for the arrival of 2.4 million people, an average occupation of 83% and an economic spill greater than 3.2 billion pesos.
The agency also stressed that the arrival of tourists to hotels was 191,350 more people compared to 2024, an increase of 68.4%.
This increase promoted economic benefits of 4,019 million pesos, 59.2% more than last year.
