The commercial warra unleashed by Donald Trump has not stopped the arrival of foreign direct investment in Mexico City, State of Mexico, Oaxaca and other entities of the country, according to Manola Zabalza Aldama, Secretary of Economic Development of Capital (Sedeco).

“In Mexico City we have a foreign investment record in 2025, as we are the number one entity in the investment reception of the country,” he said.

He said that in 2025, Mexico City broke the barrier of 10 billion dollars of foreign investment “and we hope that the trend of the year will continue.”

He commented that Mexico City remains the most competitive entity, has the best talent in many items in Latin America and connectivity throughout the world.

He said that the Government of Mexico City is economically stable and is the engine of the country.

“In the State of Mexico there has not been a real affectation so far for that reason (of the United States commercial war),” said Laura González, secretary of the Mexican Secretariat of Economic Development.

From 2022 to 2023, the State of Mexico went from sixth to second place in the attraction of foreign direct investment, the official recalled.

“So far we have not registered an affectation, there has been no closure of companies, there has been no stoppages (only Stellantis was given one month) and there were no work cuts or shifts (in the shipowner),” he reiterated.

“In the short and medium term we do not know what happens in the future, because we trust that negotiations from the Ministry of Economy will succeed,” he said.

“At this time they are not affecting the arrival of foreign direct investment,” said Raúl Ruiz Robles, Secretary of Economic Development of Oaxaca.
