The Plenary of the Senate generally approved the reforms to the Infonavit Law and the Federal Labor Law, which raises accessible lease and the creation of a construction company.

The opinion was approved with 71 votes in favor, 36 against and two abstentions.

The reform empowers the Superior Audit of the Federation, as well as the Ministry of Finance and the National Banking and Securities Commission to supervise and monitor Infonavit credit operations, but not from the construction company, according to a report by the Economist.

Morenista Senator Beatriz Mojica said that the changes to the operation of the Infonavit will grow the offer of social housing, since it can have land granted by states and municipalities to reduce the cost of homes 30%, according to the newspaper.

However, the opposition insisted that the reform puts at risk the 2.4 billion pesos that the Infonavit has in assets, so they criticized the lack of locks for the use of resources and transparency, according to the economist.
