President Claudia Sheinbaum and Bernardo Gómez, co-president of TelevisaUnivision, the largest Mexican television station and the largest in Spanish in the United States, met this Wednesday to discuss issues such as the US elections on November 5.

“It was an excellent and useful meeting with the president of Mexico,” said the director of the network upon leaving the National Palace, where a meeting took place that, as he declared, was about the upcoming elections that will confront the Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump with Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris.

This meeting, which lasted about an hour, followed the one the president held on Tuesday with businessman and billionaire Carlos Slim.

The result of these elections is crucial for Mexico, since the United States is the country’s main trading partner and the trade and economic policies that emerge from the election directly affect Mexican industry and finances, in addition to possible changes in immigration matters.

In her morning conference this Wednesday, President Sheinbaum refused to show her preference for either of the two candidates.

“It is the people of the United States who must decide who governs it, and with both the candidate of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, there will be a good relationship,” he remarked.

Furthermore, Sheinbaum refused to show concern about a possible victory for Trump, who during the campaign has advocated for tariffs that would affect Mexican products, and for strong restrictions on migration from Mexico, a country that continues to receive migrants trying to cross the border. towards the United States.

“He (Trump) has positions, and with President (Andrés Manuel) López Obrador there was agreement on many issues, and that is how it will be. On the economic issue, I said it since my inauguration, we complement each other, we do not compete with each other,” he stated.
