“Yesterday I also received Carlos Manzo’s wife and his brother and a close team. We talked, the Secretary of Security and Lázaro Cárdenas were present and we talked, obviously, because they rightly demand justice and that this investigation be reached to the end and that justice be done for the murder,” he said.

The murder of Manzo after a public Day of the Dead event in Uruapan on November 1 has generated strong indignation in Michoacán, where protests and clashes have been reported between protesters and police forces.
According to authorities, one of the alleged attackers was killed after the attack and two people were arrested for their alleged participation in the crime.
On Sunday morning, the government assured that Manzo had federal and municipal protection since 2024, which was reinforced at the beginning of 2025.
On Tuesday, the federal government announced the additional deployment of security forces and the creation of the Michoacán Plan for Peace and Justice, a comprehensive strategy that seeks to strengthen security, justice and development in the region.
Authorities have identified that, in Uruapan, a town of more than 300,000 inhabitants, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), Los Caballeros Templarios, Los Viagras, Pueblos Unidos and Los Blancos de Troya operate.
Just last October 8, Manzo called on the head of the SSPC and Sheinbaum not to withdraw the National Guard from the municipality, since the agents had only been in the area for a few days.
