President Claudia Sheinbaum criticized on Monday to the Spanish media ABC for reporting that Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller, wife of former president López Obrador, lives in Madrid along with her son, Jesús Ernesto, also denied the information and said that both reside in Mexican territory.
“Yesterday comes out in the Spanish newspaper, from the right -the ABC-, that Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller went to live in Spain and see today all the commentocrats criticizing, she already replied. I knew that she lived in Mexico, she lives in Mexico, and already responded,” said the Mexican president during her morning press conference in the National Palace.
The reaction of the head of the Executive occurs after Gutiérrez Müller published this Monday on her X account that neither she nor her son has gone to live in Spain “nor any other side.”
“I am independent of politics. I am not in that. I dedicate myself, for decades, to teaching and research at a public university in my country, where I continue working, and of course I have not gone to live there or anywhere else. Neither Jesus Ernesto,” said the former Lady of Mexico.
In this same message, he described the ABC as a professional slanderer of the “most rancid and corrupt right”, and that this signaling seeks to “take revenge” by López Obrador whom he described as a “nice lord” who during his administration achieved “two historical facts: significantly reduce poverty and inequality.”
“In our beloved Mexico, those who) felt masters and lords of the nation no longer steal. And they will not go out with his,” said the writer.

The response of Gutiérrez Müller and Sheinbaum took a day after the publication of the ABC newspaper, prepared by Spanish journalists Joan Guirado and David Yagüe.
Throughout the article: ‘López Obrador’s wife and Azote de España moves to Madrid’, journalists claim that Gutiérrez Müller would choose “the exclusive urbanization of the moral, under the Madrid municipality of Alcobendas, to establish his residence.”
In addition, it emphasizes that the author “was behind” of the letter that López Obrador sent in 2019 to the king of Spain apologizing for the conquest.
“To demand public apologies to Spain for the conquest of Hernán Cortés to settle in an exclusive neighborhood in Madrid. Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller’s vital shock,” said the journalistic text.
