President Claudia Sheinbaum showed her willingness this Thursday to call on American countries and other continents to seek a “peaceful” solution to any conflict in Venezuela and the region, reiterating the importance of opposing any “intervention” and “interference.”

In his morning conference, Sheinbaum maintained that the Mexican position responds to “a conviction” and the Constitution, and proposed that it should be shared by South American countries, even when there are political differences between governments.

“We do not agree with interventions (…) and we are in favor of the peaceful solution of conflicts,” he said.

This, he added, “beyond the government of (Nicolás) Maduro in Venezuela,” as he stated “that is another issue.”

“The central issue is interventionism and interference,” he stated, without putting the situation in Venezuela up for debate due to criticism of Nicolás Maduro, whose victory in the 2024 presidential elections has been questioned by numerous countries in the international community.
