President Claudia Sheinbaum, together with the head of Financial for Welfare (Finabien) Rocío Mejía Flores, announced the implementation of a card that will allow the nationals who reside in the United States to send money to their relatives in Mexico.

This card aims to send remittances without the need to depend on intermediaries and avoid charges of up to 1% due to taxes.

“Remittances are a union issue between families and represent an act of love, therefore, there are already 30 thousand financial cards for well -being working in the United States,” Mejía explained during the morning conference.

“A countryman can request his card by mail and are requested less requirements than a bank account. It is a very simple way to send remittances electronically to avoid making cash transfer,” said Sheinbaum.

Finabien card may be requested through 53 consulates from Mexico in the United States, mail OA through the official government portals.

This announcement is given in a context where the Trump administration approved a 1% tariff in Remittance, a measure that will be applied as of January 1, 2026.

The Finabien headquarters ended the announcement clarifying that a commission will be charged for each transaction that is made with the card.

This commission will decrease from $ 3.99 to 2.99 from this Saturday.
