President Claudia Sheinbaum stood out on Monday during the surrender of her first government report her security achievements – with the decline in the homicide rate – and in economics, as well as the “ambitious” social programs, while promising to “not betray” the people.
In her speech, pronounced before her cabinet and guest politicians, the president stressed, among other points, the 25% decrease in homicides as one of the first results of the security strategy in the country, one of the most violent in the world.
Sheinbaum, the first president in the history of Mexico, assumed the position on October 1, 2024 after the record of more than 196,000 murders in the six-year term of her predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024).
The Head of State also highlighted that the national economy “shows strength” with a growth of 1.2% of GDP “even in the midst of difficult circumstances” and “in the face of catastrophic statistics” of recession that pointed out private analysts and international financial institutions, due to the commercial war unleashed by the United States, the first commercial partner of Mexico.
“We are living a stellar moment in our history,” Sheinbaum said in the event in the National Palace.

‘We are doing well‘
The president also presumed that in Mexico “we are going well and we are going to go better for our people, for our homeland it is worth giving every hour, every minute and every breath of our day. We continue to transform the nation. For the peace and well -being of the people, they have the certainty that I will not betray.”
During his appearance, the first after coming to power on October 1, Sheinbaum said that these first eleven months of his government have been “hard work” but stressed that he will walk “without rest, with righteousness, with courage and always honor the confidence deposited in me.”
Defends social programs and support for women
Likewise, Sheinbaum said that, with the formation of the new Judiciary, which takes possession on the afternoon of September 1, the advances in the fight against insecurity will be even more significant.
“Hugging the young people, to guarantee access to their rights and happiness, while we are guaranteeing zero impunity, the advances will be greater. I am sure that the new judiciary will help a lot in this process,” he said.
The president also highlighted advances to guarantee access to free and quality health with the strengthening of public health systems; And he said that in 2025 the social programs of his government have reached more than 30 million Mexican homes

Sheinbaum stressed that this is the social plan “most ambitious in the history of Mexico”, which weighs social rights as the basis of well -being “and under the maxim that guides our movement for the good of all and all, first the poor,” he said.
