President Claudia Sheinbaum criticized the footballer Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández on Wednesday, qualifying her recent statements about the role of women as “very macho.”

In this regard, Sheinbaum acknowledged the sports trajectory of the footballer, but strongly disapproved of his opinions about women.
“It is not to argue with ‘Chicharito’, because he is a great footballer and has represented Mexico at different times, but it is important that all the men of our country recognize women as people. He is a very good footballer, but in the case of his opinion regarding women I think he still has a lot to learn, because women can be what we want to be,” said the president.
