The Olmeca de Pemex refinery is about to resume production, president Claudia Sheinbaum said when consulted by an alleged “sabotage” that would have especially affected the catalytic unit of the installation and which he denied.
Olmeca, located in Dos Bocas, Tabasco, and with a capacity of 340,000 barrels per day (BPD), is still far from reaching the levels of processing and production of gasoline and diesel promised during the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which built the work and opened it in 2022 despite not being finished.
“It is a issue not so, as you raise,” the president replied to a question during her press conference on an alleged sabotage. However, he did not give details of what could have happened in the refinery, or when.
He said he will ask the director of Pemex to report on what happened.

“It is not that the refinery does not use now. It is somewhat less,” said the president. “I was producing 100,000 barrels per day and is about to resume. There is nothing serious,” he added.
Pemex did not respond to a request for information on what happened in the refinery, the date or the current production situation.
The most recent Pemex figures on the Olmeca refinery revealed that it barely prosecuted 6,797 BPD in February and nothing in January, when a problem of water and salt content was reported in the oil. His figures began to be informed since June 2024 and have been marginal.
Reuters reported last week that Pemex exported an ultra -low -sulfur diesel cargo (Duba) reprocessing in Olmeca because the infrastructure to distribute the fuel is not yet ready.
