President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed her gratitude to the president of China, Xi Jinping, for his Government’s support in the production and delivery of household goods intended for families affected in 2023 by the devastating Hurricane Otis, in Acapulco.
“On the occasion of the G20 Leaders Summit, we spoke with the president of China, Xi Jinping. I appreciated all the support for the recovery of Acapulco through the production and delivery of household goods,” Sheinbaum said on his social networks.
The meeting between both leaders took place within the framework of the G20 Summit, which is being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
This is the first meeting between Sheinbaum, who assumed power on October 1, and the leader of the Asian giant.
Likewise, the Sheinbaum Government recognized that these actions have not only been crucial for the recovery of the affected communities, but have also strengthened economic ties and solidarity between Mexico and China.

This meeting adds to an intense agenda of Sheinbaum’s bilateral meetings at the G20, which included meetings with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau; the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, and the president of the United States, Joe Biden.
Sheinbaum stood out at this summit for prioritizing international cooperation in areas such as trade, energy transition and economic recovery, as well as for promoting 1% of the resources allocated to war to be allocated to address various global problems, and seeks reposition Mexico as a key player on the global scene.
