President Claudia Sheinbaum traveled to Honduras on Wednesday to participate in the IX Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), her second trip abroad since she assumed the position on October 1 and where she will appeal to the integration of the region.
“It is a brief trip that she explained here in the ‘Mañanera del Pueblo’. It will remain a few hours, so she will be back today. And the president has commented that one of the approaches she will make at the summit is that there are more talks for the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean,” said the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, in the National Palace.
The official, who headed the morning presidential conference, recalled that the Celac Summit is an event that will be attended by the presidents of Brazil, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva; from Bolivia, Luis Alberto Arce; from Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi; from Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel, among others.
In recent days, Sheinbaum had advanced that he would be at the summit, for a period of just two hours, by invitation of the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, and with the aim of promoting unity in Latin America and the Caribbean.
