Los Angeles, (EFE) .- The Paramount group announced on Wednesday the signing of an agreement with the creators of the irreverent cartoon series ‘South Park’ to acquire its catalog and release a new season after long negotiations.
The covenant includes a renovation with the cookers of ‘South Park’ Trey Parker and Matt Stone for five years, including 50 new episodes and the 26 episodes of the previous season, the entertainment giant reported in a statement.
The series has won six Emmy television awards and new episodes will also be broadcast in Paramount+ in the United States the day after its broadcast in Central Comedy.

According to the new agreement, Paramount will pay South Park Digital Studios more than 1,250 million dollars, which is one of the most expensive contracts in the history of television, according to a report published Tuesday by Los Angeles Times.
The pact is reached after several months of legal dispute between both parties and Skydance, a company that plans to acquire the control of Paramount in the coming months.
Paramount, which encompasses many television channels, from CBS to Nickelodeon, announced in July last year a fusion agreement with Skydance, thus configuring a new power in Hollywood that marked the exit of the Redstone family, so far and for decades the majority shareholders of Paramount.
But this fusion has been delayed by several factors, including the demand of President Donald Trump against the ’60 Minute ‘program, of CBS News.
This demand was resolved on Tuesday with an agreement of more than 36 million dollars with the Global Paramount group to finally close the litigation for the interview he conducted in 2024 to his then rival in the presidential ones, Vice President Kamala Harris.
