Steam got a handful of new, free games on March 30, 2026, and anyone can claim them right now. As one of the largest PC gaming storefronts on the market, Steam is dropping new titles every day, from huge triple-A releases to early-access betas and independently developed projects you can play on a budget.
We’ve got four of the latter this week: according to Free Steam Games on X (formerly Twitter), as of March 30, you can grab Ferret Quest, Bomb’s Lair, Pest’Off, and Vythzkel-of-City Dinasty absolutely free on Steam. All four have positive reviews, and are worth adding to your library.
Steam Gamers Can Grab Four New Freebies Now
What to expect from these four new releases
First on the list of new Steam freebies is Ferret Quest. This is a short, simple, side-scrolling platformer where you play as a ferret who throws acorns at their enemies. It’s sort of reminiscent of 2D Mario, especially in the vertical platforming and the big boss fights, but with a Mega Man-style attack.
Ferret Quest is a collaboration between CitrusTheDev, CameraMan, and Aio, the developer of simple budget games like WobblePop and The Catalyst Acolyte Tower Defense.
Up next is Bomb’s Lair, a 2D puzzle game where you make your way through 48 levels by chucking bombs at anything that stands in your way. You’ll have to manage the timing and placement of your bombs as you descend deeper into the dungeon through a series of challenges that blend Bomberman and 2D Zelda.
We’ve also got Pest’Off, a new game by students at the Montreal Video Game School. In it, you play as an employee of the titular extermination company, tasked with clearing mutants from your city. It’s a cartoonish first-person shooter with some cool mechanics: damaging explosions, zombies that burst into clouds of smoke, and even a working slot machine.
Finally, there’s Vythzkel-of-City Dinasty, a walking simulator made by solo dev Bythzkel. You’ll simply explore a richly detailed environment, passing through crumbling rooms as you enjoy the richly detailed graphics and sound design. It does require some pretty serious hardware to run, but it’s intended to be an immersive experience.
Steam Has Some Great Free Games
Other freebies to check out
Steam is a great resource for free PC games; if none of these tickle your fancy, you can check out our previous Steam freebie roundup. Other interesting, recently released free titles include the sci-fi visual novel The Moon Looks Beautiful Tonight, which has a really intriguing ’90s anime-style aesthetic, and the open-world RPG The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, a Genshin Impact-style title based on the anime of the same name.
If all else fails, though, go to the New Releases page and just start scrolling, and you’ll find a thousand different free and discounted games. You’re sure to discover something you love, even when shopping with a budget on Steam.
