After dominating the box office with a 2025 live-action film, Disney’s favorite blue alien is wasting no time expanding his universe. The breakout success of Lilo & Stitch on the big screen has paved the way for an ambitious new wave of stories, this time in comic form, putting Stitch front and center once again.

At this year’s ComicsPRO in Glendale, Dynamite Entertainment officially unveiled a brand-new series titled Lilo & Stitch 626, alongside several additional Stitch-focused projects set to roll out in May 2026, according to Bleeding Cool. Together, they show a coordinated push to make 2026 the year of Experiment 626.

A New Chapter for Experiment 626

The upcoming Lilo & Stitch 626 series shifts the spotlight beyond Stitch’s usual chaos, diving deeper into the extended “ohana” that surrounds him. Rather than focusing solely on intergalactic mayhem, the book promises character-driven stories exploring familiar faces from the franchise in unexpected ways.

After $1 Billion Live-Action Success, Stitch Returns for New Story

Stitch, fresh off the Hawaiian wave of success and a $1 billion global milestone, is now ready to return with an all-new story for fans.

Writers Daniel Kibblesmith and George Kambadais team with artist Elisa Pochetta to deliver a format where each issue contains two distinct stories. Early details tease a humorous retelling of Agent Cobra Bubbles’ mysterious origins, filtered through Lilo’s imaginative perspective, as well as a solo adventure for Captain Gantu set on a Western-inspired alien world.

The structure suggests a playful balance between heartfelt family dynamics and absurd sci-fi spectacle. By building out supporting characters, the series appears designed to deepen the emotional core that made the franchise resonate decades ago, while still embracing the unpredictable energy that defines Stitch himself.

Expanding the Stitch Universe in 2026

The new ongoing title is only part of Dynamite’s larger plan. Acclaimed creator Jeff Parker is launching an original graphic novel, The Book of Stitch: Top Secret Adventures, a project framed as a journal chronicling Stitch’s life. In a clever meta twist, the story is presented as written by Lilo and illustrated, chaotically, by Stitch.

Meanwhile, the current Stitch comic continues with fresh story arcs, including a globe-hopping adventure that sends the mischievous alien to a planet populated entirely by dogs. Predictably, harmony doesn’t last long once Stitch arrives, reinforcing the franchise’s signature blend of innocence and disruption.

Dynamite is also supporting the launch with special Free Comic Book Day material and collectible blind-bag variants, proving just how seriously the publisher is treating the rollout. With May 2026 releases carefully timed and June 26, “626 Day”, looming as a natural celebration point, the strategy feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

Taken together, these announcements mark the most expansive publishing initiative Lilo & Stitch has seen in years. Rather than simply riding the momentum of a hit film, Disney and its partners are building a sustained platform for new stories. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, Experiment 626’s next evolution looks bigger, and more chaotic, than ever.
