In a jaw-dropping transformation, Superman just unlocked his ultimate form as KING OMEGA – and the Darkseid-level power that comes with it.
It’s been a tough few years for the Man of Steel, with fellow heroes like Captain Atom coming for his crown. But now, as DC’s Omega King, Superman is not just its strongest hero again, but the most powerful being in existence.
Superman’s punches now land with so much strength that black holes destabilize…
Superman Officially Becomes DC’s KING OMEGA
Today’s DC K.O. #5 – from Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson, Wes Craig, Xermánico, Javier Fernández and Alejandro Sánchez – wraps up the blockbuster event, which has pitted heroes and villains against each other in a giant tournament to decide who will reshape reality in their image using the Heart of Apokolips.
Despite falling afoul of the contest, Superman is given one more chance by his old enemy Doomsday, who grants him the ability to return to life one more time, bonding with the Heart of Apokolips as King Omega.
Superman becomes linked to the very foundation of reality, growing to gigantic size and wearing a blazing crown of cosmic energy. After battling Darkseid across existence, Superman absorbs the Big Bang and creates an entire reality that feeds him even more power.
Superman’s Powers as King Omega
As King Omega, Superman literally embodies his new reality. Every blow he lands against Darkseid gains ground to making his new utopia the defining version of the multiverse. Superman has left physical form behind, and while he’s still ‘punching’ Darkseid, this is mostly a metaphor for a cosmic fight that touches every level of creation.
Existing in all places and times at once, Superman’s punches now land with so much strength that black holes destabilize. Every blow landed warps reality to become the perfect future he envisions. But right as he has Darkseid on the ropes, Superman does something unexpected…
Superman Ends DC’s Best Crisis Event with the Perfect Twist
At the conclusion of DC K.O., Superman rejects the King Omega title and instead distributes his new powers among the heroes and villains of the tournament. Rejecting omnipotence and the ability to craft his own reality, Superman instead shares his powers and restores the DC Universe to its prior form, pushing Darkseid back to his Absolute Universe along with his Justice League allies.
Many fans have called DC K.O. the publisher’s most exciting ‘Crisis’-level event in history, and the ending is undeniably perfect – a final, god-level battle across the stars, ending with Superman doing the most Superman thing possible – giving up a godhood he doesn’t want in order to empower as many people as possible against pure evil.
