The National Alliance of Small Merchants (ANPEC) does not yet have an estimate of the impact of the teacher of teachers in the historic center, but from the experience he anticipates that the support given by the authority to alleviate the losses will fall short.
“Everything that can be supported, because they have done so (the authorities) at other times, will be very far, very distant from what was lost,” says Cuauhtémoc Rivera, president of the organization that has almost 214,000 affiliates throughout the country.
“Things are very difficult, sales are complicated, inflation goes up, insecurity does not stop hitting (…) is a great blow to the commercial activity of the center of the country,” he added.
Since May 14, members of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) maintain a baseball and nearby streets.
The magisterial dissent raised his protest this week by preventing journalists from the morning access of President Claudia Sheinbaum on Wednesday, and upon entering Terminal 2 of the Mexico City International Airport this Friday.

The organization requires the Government to satisfy its petition sheet, which includes the abrogation of the 2007 ISSSTE law, the 2019 educational reform and a 100% salary increase in the base salary of teachers.
The National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourisms of Mexico City (Canaco CDMX) indicated that about 11,250 small and medium -sized businesses in the historic center have been affected, and that the losses so far reach 62 million pesos.
Cuauhtémoc Rivera calculated that 40% of the establishments in the historic center are “half water”, that is, that partially or definitely operate closed to try to mitigate the impact of the plant.
“If people do not buy, you still have to pay your people. If you close, you can pay salaries in half or reach an agreement that does not hit the merchant so hard,” he said.

He noted that the shops of the historic center are tanned due to the frequent demonstrations in this area of the city, and that the food turns does not affect the plant so much, since some “sell in a traveling way.”
However, these protests move away many clients because “people say: ‘right now or get in the center because there are the teachers, you will waste time, there will be a bottling of the damn.”
