The Israel Embassy in Mexico reported that the Supreme Court of Justice of its country rejected an appeal filed by former Diplomatic Andrés Roemer, about whom accusations of sexual abuse and rape weigh, and that it was intended to avoid being extradited to Mexico.
Consequently, the diplomatic representation pointed out, the statement as extraditable of Roemer “has become definitive.”
Through a statement, Israel’s embassy in Mexico recalled that Roemer was indicated as extraditable in March 2024.
In the next stage, he reported, the Israeli Prosecutor’s Office will go to the Minister of Justice “to request that the extradition order sign. Before the signing of said order, Roemer has the right to appeal before the Supreme Court of Justice, who will make the final decision.”
In the note, it was pointed out that “Israel grants the utmost importance in bringing criminals to justice and promotes international cooperation in the fight against crime.”
In addition, he pointed out that Israel’s judicial system is fully autonomous, and its commitment to justice and international law “remains independent of the particular characteristics or circumstances of the people involved.”
“Israel and Mexico are allies, share common values and maintain good relations in many fields, including cooperation in the legal field,” said the embassy.
On March 28, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Mexican government, through its embassy in Israel, was “officially notified” that the Regional Court of Jerusalem had failed in favor of the request for extradition of Roemer presented by Mexico.

On that date, Israel’s judicial authorities determined that the former Diplomatic, accused of sexual abuse by dozens of women and fugitive in Israel, could be extradited, but Mexico’s request had to be authorized by the Israeli government and signed by the Ministry of Justice of that country.
On that occasion, the Mexican Foreign Ministry recalled that the North American country and Israel “lack a specific extradition treaty”, so all actions are based on international reciprocity and in accordance with the principles established in the International Extradition Law.
In October 2023, Roemer, of Jewish origins and who took refuge in Israel, was arrested by the police of that country.
In 2022, Interpol issued a red card to search and stop the diplomat, accused of citing their alleged victims in their home with work excuses and then performing touching and insinuations and, finally, offer them money.
Roemer was an ambassador of Mexico to UNESCO and in 2016 he was dismissed from his position after not following the position of his country and refraining in a resolution presented by Arab countries on the esplanade of the mosques (mount of the temple for the Jews), located in Jerusalem is busy.
