The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Thursday that 317 films are eligible for the 98th Academy Awards, including 201 for the best picture category.
The list of the 317 films has not been revealed by the Academy.
The feature films included in the considered grand category of the most prestigious awards in cinema “met additional requirements to those of general admission, including greater exhibition in theaters and the presentation of a confidential Representation and Inclusion Standards of the Academy (RAISE) Entry form,” the Academy reported in a statement.

On December 16, the Academy announced the lists of projects shortlisted in 12 of the 24 categories for this edition’s Oscars, in which the Spanish representative, ‘Sirat’, by Oliver Laxe, made history with five categories.
The horror and vampire thriller ‘Sinners’ and the second part of the musical ‘Wicked’ lead this shortlist that also includes the Brazilian ‘The Secret Agent’, the Argentine ‘Belén’ and ‘Frankenstein’, by Mexican Guillermo del Toro.
The deadline for the more than 7,000 members that make up the Academy to vote on which films will be nominated in this edition opens next Monday and will end on Friday the 16th.
The nominations for the 98th edition of the most prestigious international film awards will be announced on Thursday, January 22, 2026 and the winners will be announced on March 15 at the emblematic Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
