Talking in public is one of the 5 most recurring fears in the surveys; 86% of people say they experience insecurity or fear when addressing an audience. 53% even report some degree of anxiety, while 27% even indicate suffering some physical discomfort when they have to do it (itching, blushing, heat, stomach discomfort, breathing difficulty and even acceleration of heart rate).
In an extrapolation to political activity, we talk about the fundamental resource of propaganda communication. Leaders, officials, candidates, prospects and personalities must deploy their skills and resources performing forcefulness to convince, transmit their ideas, show capacity, make differences with respect to other political forces, disseminate messages and strengthen their position in the political spectrum.
The speech is used in politics to gain adherents, discuss, discern, analyze, break down, compare, inform, point, guide, direct, define; and, – of course – demonstrate strength, assertiveness, security, superiority.
Talking in public is to establish a link with an audience to which we direct messages, it turns out to be a component of the political communication system used in various scenarios that represents one of the most necessary and required skills for any applicant or protagonist of a political career.
In a nutshell, it must be an interactive, bidirectional act, always intentional, convincing, conscious, structured, a tool used with a clear objective and characterized by the personality of those who transmit it.
We are no longer talking about those long, complex and scholarly speeches, those fundamental pieces of speaking that remain in history because they are the distinctive sign of times; They were philosophical, moving, provocative, revolutionary attitudes that defined movements, exchange influences, deep reflections, milestones, counts, signs of transformation, fashions, beliefs, culture.
Social networks force to assimilate the variations in linguistic styles, terminologies, concepts, styles without which it would be very difficult to connect with the population segments that access political discourse by those channels and platforms.
The current thing is brevity, impact, reaction, shaking. There is no time, the ability to concentrate, life is vertiginously, we pass from one stimulus to another imperceptibly, we only have seconds to persuade; Millions of influencers, sites, communities, novelties, images, content and posts converge convulsing, overcoming, giving up, atiboring every minute.
In the pronouncements, the banal predominate, the superficial, immediate, pragmatic, playful, insubstantial, superfluous, chaotic, which means a greater demand for training, preparation, strategic definition, performance, tactical management of an exposure platform, competitiveness and efficiency in political discourse.
The above does not mean that the fundamental aspects of verbal communication are neglected or that it is based on vulgarity, simplicity or comic, especially if each phone, tablet or camera is considered to potentially an element of risk.
Caretails, excesses, errors, planning deficiencies, indiscretion only contribute to devalue the generalized perception of politics and, at the same time, they become easy white of teasing, memes, criticisms and negative viral content. Nor doubt that opponents will have plenty of material to take advantage.
Currently message and political messenger move in a symbiosis, in a symbolic, rhythmic, sensory, argumentative and exponential feedback through which the perception of the audience is constructed and on which both elements must also build that multipolar link.
Within the framework of such context, for a political discourse to work; be effective, clear, distinctive, efficient; That is, it meets its objectives, it is required:
a) Integrate a message with the issues and content that supports it in the greatest congruence with social perceptions,
b) Have the greatest And better information, as well as a deep knowledge of the public and
c) Provide the speaker of the necessary resources to make it the single and fundamental transmission vehicle.
In simple words: my speech shows that I have sufficient, important, current and precise information, I can analyze and break it up; I prepare, integrate, transmit, communicate with leadership, property, knowledge, sensitivity, emotion, experience.
1. The writing of a speech.
Many methodologies exist to write speeches. Various formats, figures, constructions, models, schools, techniques, grammatical styles, rules, structures, ornaments, schemes, it is best to concentrate on the fundamental, profitable, critical, relevant elements, essential for a minimum but effective orientation.
When writing should not miss creativity, changes, vision, perspectives, take care of the order of ideas; Of course, it is necessary to have a diverse, significant, valuable, updated, pertinent, broad and solid vocabulary. Let’s recod that written discourse should be impeccable, a spelling error can spoil its value and transcendence.
There can be no omissions of grammatical fundamental rules such as syntax, semantics, morphology, phonetics, viralized failures that reflect huge carelessness, disorder, not even a minimum of information or at least know the meaning of words are unfortunate, in political discourse that is mandatory.
In summary, vocabulary wealth, knowledge of its meaning and correct use, efficient and structured of it. The speaker is protected so as not to wear it excessively, but more than anything a discursive piece is written thinking about the audience, concentrating the resources in words that detonate their emotions, that they put them to reflect and make them remember our ideas.
