After five seasons, The Boys has set its sights on a new real-life target that has been a long time coming. The official trailer for The Boys season 5 was released in March 2026, teasing the show’s final outing. The trailer highlighted everything fans have come to expect after The Boys season 4’s ending, from superhero fights to meta humor.
Concerning the latter, no show on TV at the moment comments more on the sociopolitical state of the real world. Be it The Boys‘ many celebrity cameos, how it parodies modern superhero franchises, or how it pokes fun at world figures, Prime Video’s franchise has become notable for how it combines a grittier, more violent superhero story with cutting political commentary.
As predictions and theories about The Boys season 5 run rampant, the trailer allowed audiences an insight into how the popular show will conclude. Evidently, despite the concluding nature of the story, what makes The Boys, well, The Boys will only continue. The trailer proves as much by giving the show a new, real-life target via its meta comedy that has long been expected.
The Boys Is Going After “Alpha” Podcasts In Season 5
One of the few appearances of Chace Crawford’s The Deep in the trailer for The Boys season 5 shows him hosting a podcast alongside Black Noir. Expectedly, this podcast seems to be pushing The Deep’s various beliefs thanks to his line, “That’s Beta Male s***, bro. Noir, am I right?” Black Noir then uses his soundboard, supporting Deep with a “P-p-p-preach!” effect.
Thanks to this scene, the next real-life element The Boys will take shots at is the concept of “Alpha” podcasts. “Alpha Male” podcasts have become somewhat commonplace in recent years, meant to teach young men about how to embody the titular state of mind in modern society.
Typically, these podcasts push outdated agendas, going against what they believe to be the “woke” politics and gender norms of the present day. The Boys season 5 is leaning heavily into that; The Deep’s line in the trailer typifies this, as well as the podcast’s title being “Manhandled” and the various misogynistic posters visible in the background.
Given the fact that “Alpha” podcasts have been around for a while, it is not a shock that The Boys is finally aiming for a new current trend.
The Boys is well-known for how it showcases and critiques various elements of pop culture and the political climate, from Homelander’s grip over the White House to Firecracker’s incredibly biased, untruthful show on Vought News Network. The Boys’ Podcast Parody Means We Probably Won’t Get A Redemption Arc For The Deep
Although this element of The Boys season 5 will continue to portray an iconic element of the show, it also has narrative implications for The Deep. Since season 2, audiences have wondered whether The Boys would redeem The Deep, turning him from the sexist, misogynistic man he was into a more sympathetic character.
This was teased at one point, but The Boys season 4 reversed that by showing The Deep becoming more evil due to his sycophantic loyalty to Homelander. Seemingly, The Boys season 5 will not provide The Deep with a last shot at redemption if his new podcast is anything to go by.
After all, The Deep is still pushing his agenda that embodies everything that the titular group stands against, with the aforementioned podcast proof enough of this. Moreover, A-Train’s full redemption appears to be complete in The Boys season 5’strailer.
With only one season left, a full redemption arc for The Deep would simply be too complex to cram into the show alongside A-Train’s continued role. Thankfully, The Boys has found a fun, meta way to keep The Deep on the wrong side of the moral line via his new “Alpha” podcast, providing audiences with continued reasons to dislike him and a new target for the show’s sociopolitical commentary.
