In a sector where innovation progresses as fast as challenges, Expo Med Hospitar Mexico 2025 has become much more than an exhibition. From tomorrow until August 21, the Banamex Center will be the scene of a new edition, this time with more than 150 exhibitors of global brands and 5,000 professional visitors, and to throb its details, Forbes He dialogue exclusively with Ricardo Castellanos González, director who promises to be the most relevant event in the medical industry in the country and the region.

At 16 years of life, this event is an appointment where technological innovation, public policies and business vision will be found in the same space and under a common goal: put the patient in the center, bringing technology, knowledge and the possibility of building alliances that directly impact hospitals, clinics and patients.

“According to INEGI, the health sector in Mexico represents around 5.1% of GDP, that is, 1.63 billion pesos,” explains Castellanos González. “Our role has been to bring innovation and put it available to decision makers. In these 16 years we have connected thousands of professionals with cutting -edge technology, from artificial intelligence to robotic surgery.”

When talking about trends, Castilians does not doubt: “Distance medical attention will be the great revolution in the next five years. Telemedicine is already transforming health systems into other countries and in Mexico is entering strongly. It will allow to expand coverage and reduce gaps that limit access today.”

Patient to the center, beyond speech

The motto of the 2025 edition is “patient to the center”, a capital challenge in a country with so many differences in access and quality, and in this regard, Castellanos González, emphasizes that, “the public sector faces many limitations, but from Expo Med what we do is bring what already exists in the world and put it in front of the eyes of governments and institutions.”

This year, for the first time, the Government will actively participate in the event, managing to approach actors who were historically distanced. “An example is the case of Canifarma and Canacintra, two cameras that had no dialogue. In Expo Med, we managed to sit at the same table and that is our mission: there is bridges where there weren’t before.”

The great international events are no longer measured by their size, but also because of their environmental impact and their ability to innovate digitally and, this time, Expo Med is the exception.

“Before the stands were discarded and generated tons of garbage, today we have the Better Stands initiative, with modular and reusable structures. Likewise, we eliminate plastic bottles and use sustainable materials in all signage. We want each edition to be more responsible with the planet,” explains the interviewee.

A hub with global vision

On the other hand, digitalization in medicine is key, so Expo Med, has a permanent hub that works as a network of specialized health contacts, where exhibitors and buyers can generate opportunities all year. “It’s like a LinkedIn of the medical sector: there business is not limited to three days, but 365 days are maintained.”

The force of the event is not only on its local impact, but is part of the Global Informa Markets portfolio, which organizes some of the world’s largest appointments, such as Arab Health in Dubai, hospitizing in São Paulo and Fime in Miami.

“Our goal is that Expo Med becomes the reference hub into innovation and health networking for North America and Latin America, at the level of great European and American events,” concludes Castilians.
