Jorge Humberto Santos Reyna, president of the Chamber of the Transformation Industry of Nuevo León (Caintra), said there was a reduction in losses due to cargo transportation, but the crime on roads and railways still persists.
“The Industrial Companies of Nuevo León, in their operation throughout the country, reported losses for a total of 5,991 million pesos (for theft of the Industrial Sector of Nuevo León on roads, railroad and associated costs,” said the business representative.

Each year, Caintra Nuevo León conducts an annual survey of cargo transport, which shows losses derived from theft to the industrial sector on roads, rail and associated costs to reduce the crime.
“The results corresponding to last year reflect a positive advance, because there was a 57 percent reduction (robbery losses and associated costs) compared to the previous year,” said the businessman.
In 2024, losses due to theft of cargo autotransport to companies in Nuevo León were reduced more than 29 percent on the country’s roads, he added.
The crime took 2,637 million pesos of goods to the regiomontana industry in 2024, when a year before it stole more 4,722 million pesos, said the president of the Caintra.
The theft of merchandise transported by rail also registered a decrease of 54 percent, he recalled.
Companies lost 521 million in 2024 due to theft on the railroad, when a year before they had a decrease of 1,123 million pesos.

“The growth of additional expenses for insecurity that companies carry out continued to increase, although it was less than previous years,” said Jorge Humberto Santos Reyn.
“In 2024, the costs decreased to 2,833 million pesos, compared to 8 thousand 148 million of the previous year,” he said.
He added that companies pay insurance premiums, unproductivity of vehicles for not being able to circulate in certain schedules or routes, breaches of delivery of orders with customers, damage to tractocamions and trailers, support for affected operators, purchases of GPS, among others.
According to the president of Caintra, he helped in reducing losses due to theft coordination between authorities of the three levels of government, so he must continue and strengthen.
“In the same way, coordination between authorities and business sector must be maintained to transit safely,” he said.
It also reduced the impact of the theft on roads and railroad the operation, strategy, expenses and investments of companies for merchandise transport has given results.

“We remember that in 2023 strong amounts were allocated to avoid robberies,” said Jorge Humberto Santos Reyna.
“The results are positive and we extend our recognition to the authorities. However, there is still a lot of work to be done, the impact for robberies in a general way continues, even for some sectors in particular the affectation increased last year,” concluded the president of the Cainting Nuevo León.
