The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) appointed Gabriel Yorio, former Undersecretary of the Treasury, as its new Vice President of Finance and Administration.

As of November 16, the economist will be responsible for mobilizing and managing the institution’s financial resources, the organization reported in a statement.

“We are pleased to welcome Gabriel as our new Vice President of Finance and Administration,” said IDB President Ilan Goldfajn, according to the text published this Wednesday.

“With his extensive experience in the Mexican public sector and in multilateral organizations related to financial matters and the management of large teams, Gabriel brings invaluable experience to the IDB,” he added.

Gabriel Yorio is a “financial expert with extensive experience in public financial management and policy decision-making,” the IDB said in its announcement.

The economist arrived at the Undersecretariat of the Treasury in 2019, but decided not to continue in the department under the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum in order to seek the international position, as the president confirmed at the end of September.

Gabriel Yorio has a degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey, he has a master’s degree in economics from the College of Mexico and another in Public Policy Management from Georgetown University at the McCourt School of Public Policy .

In his professional career, Yorio González has held positions at the World Bank, the National Bank of Public Works and Services and the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Mexico City.

At the international level, in 2013 he was a Public Sector specialist at the World Bank, where he participated in more than 20 projects aimed at improving the performance of public administration in more than 12 countries.
