President Claudia Sheinbaum met this Thursday with Ilan Goldfajn, president of the Inter -American Development Bank (IDB), to talk about the Mexico Plan, a joint strategy of the Government and the private sector to attract investments and stimulate national growth until 2030, and study possible investments of the multilateral agency in the country.
“In the National Palace, we received Ilan Goldfajn, president of the Inter -American Development Bank, and his team; we talked about the Mexico Plan and the positive panorama for our country,” said the president, who was accompanied by the Secretary of the Treasury, Edgar Amador Zamora.
The president of the IDB highlighted in a message on social networks that during his visit to Mexico he also had meetings “with leaders of the private sector of Mexico to dialogue about how, together, we can promote investment, productivity and quality employment within the framework of the Mexico Plan.”

Specifically, Goldfajn stressed that the agency “is ready to mobilize $ 25,000 million in six years”, of which the arm for the private sector of the multilateral bank could contribute around 7,000 million dollars to “complement” public financing in key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, manufacturing and the care economy.
This is the second meeting of Sheinbaum with the president of the IDB in less than a year, and shows the approach of Mexico with the multilateral agency after the distance marked by the six -year term of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, very critical of international development banks.
In December 2024, Goldfajn visited Mexico for the first time and then affirmed the organization’s disposition to support Mexico in the process of relocation of companies known as ‘Nearshoring’.
