The Kremlin said Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin, and US President Donald Trump, have a good relationship and are determined to restore step by step the links between the United States and Russia, which are very damaged.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov spoke after Putin and Trump spoke on Tuesday and the Russian leader temporarily agreed to the Ukrainian energy facilities, but refused to support a high 30 -day fire that Trump hoped that it was the first step towards a permanent peace agreement.

“I can say with a high degree of confidence that Presidents Putin and Trump understand each other well, they trust each other and intend to work to normalize Russian-American relationships step by step,” said Peskov.

He said that there has long been a direct telephone line between the presidents of the two countries and a video link when necessary, but that it has barely used during the Joe Biden government. He said Putin hoped that he could now be used more frequently.

“Of course, Russia and the United States are very large countries and they have spoiled too many things during the previous US governments,” said Peskov.

“So, of course, time and effort will be needed, backed by the will of both presidents, to restore these relations.

Peskov said that the exact dates and the format of the next round of contacts between the United States and Russia would remember today and tomorrow.
