An armed attack in the heart of the Christmas festivities in Chilpancingo, the capital of Guerrero, resulted in the murder of Martín Roberto Ramírez Ruiz, president of the board (organizer) of the San Mateo, Christmas and New Year’s Fair, and a collaborator whose name has not been revealed.
The incident occurred in a public square in the San Mateo neighborhood, while the traditional Teopancalaquis dances were being prepared, an emblematic celebration in the region.
The armed men infiltrated among the dancers and attendees, approached Ramírez Ruiz and opened fire, causing his instant death.

The collaborator also died at the scene. A woman and a child suffered gunshot wounds during the attack.
Security forces, including the National Guard, the State Police and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), went to the scene to cordon off the area and begin the relevant investigations.
Relatives of the victims expressed their pain and indignation at the violence unleashed in a festival that symbolizes the unity and tradition of the community, where thousands gather to tour the five native towns of the city of Chilpancingo.
The governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, strongly condemned the murder of Ramírez Ruiz, calling it “inadmissible.”
“I have expeditiously requested the State Attorney General’s Office to carry out a clear and effective investigation, to guarantee justice and punish those responsible for this reprehensible act,” he added.
For its part, the Secretary of Public Security of Guerrero reported on the deployment of surveillance operations and security filters at the exits of Chilpancingo, especially in the direction towards the town of Amojileca, with the aim of providing attention to citizens and reinforcing security in the area.
This tragic event occurs in a context of increasing violence in Chilpancingo, where criminal groups dispute control of various activities, including those related to local festivities.
The authorities have urged the population to collaborate by providing information that could lead to the capture of those responsible, reiterating the commitment to not allow acts of violence to go unpunished and to work to restore peace and security in the region.
