As its name suggests, that familiar form factor has been shrunk to about 4 inches (105mm) in diameter, and 1.9 inches (48mm) thick — making it easier to fit in pockets or smaller bags . The Miniroll weighs 9.8 ounces (279g) and still features a built-in strap that can be used to attach it to things like bags and belt loops. Ultimate Ears also says the speaker is “drop-proof” up to a height of about 47 inches (1.2 meters) and has an IP67 rating against dust and water — meaning it can withstand being submerged for up to 30 minutes.
The Miniroll is rechargeable via USB-C, and the company says battery life should last up to 12 hours of playback. The Bluetooth range goes up to 40 meters until you add things like walls. There’s also a “PartyUp” feature to pair multiple Miniroll speakers together for more volume, but it doesn’t support connecting to the company’s Boom-branded speakers.
