Libya appeals to the responsibility of the international community before the attack against Iran
The Government of National Libyan Unity (GUN) expressed its “deep concern” on Sunday against the attack of the United States to nuclear facilities in Iran this morning and called the international community to take their responsibilities, he said in a statement.
The GUN, led by Abdelhamid Dbeiba, who considered the attack as “a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region (Middle East) and the world, reiterated the position of Libya that” rejects any use of force in international relations, out of legitimacy, “he said.
The Maghreb Country remarked, in its note, the importance of “respecting the sovereignty of states and their regional security,” according to the United Nations Convention and the principles of international law.
The Tripoli government – recognized by the international community – called the “dialogue” and “solve conflicts through peaceful and diplomatic channels,” said the GUN.
He also alerted “any step that can lead to more tension and a military escalation.”
On June 13, the date of the beginning of Israeli attacks against Iran, Libya denounced this aggression, and considered it “flagrant violation against the sovereignty of the Persian country” and “a deviation from the norms and principles of international law.”
Last week, the Interim Libyan Foreign Minister of the GUN, Tahar Baour, had a talk with the Iranian ambassador Ain there Suri, about the current geopolitical situation in the region, and where both parties agreed to “strengthen solidarity against common challenges,” exterior said.
The US president, Donald Trump, said on Saturday that his country attacked “successfully” three Iranian nuclear facilities – those of Fordó, Natanz and Isfahán – in the first US bombings that occur in the midst of the conflict between Israel and Iran.
