Jeff Miller, Executive Vice President of the NFL that supervises the health and safety of the players, reported a historical decrease in brain shocks during the 2024 season of 17% with respect to those that occurred in the previous campaign and the lowest number since 2015 , when the record began to be carried out.

The 182 brain shocks suffered in this 2024 compared to 219 of season 2023 represents a decrease of 17%.

In 2015 the number of these lesions was 275, a year later it fell to 243, by 2017 it reached its peak with 281. In 2018, 214 were reported; in 2019, 224; In 2020, the year in which it was dealt with the COVID-19, 172 were recorded; in 2021, 187; and in 2022, 213.

“This season’s injuries underline real progress in our efforts to reduce brain shocks and distensions in the lower extremities, key areas on which the league lesion reduction strategy focuses,” said Dr. Allen Sills, medical director of the NFL.
