The trap system installed in the northern Mexico area has not detected a single fly of the cattle borer (Compatible).
The larvae were in an early phase in an animal, which implies that there is no possibility of flying the fly, which minimizes the risk of scattering of the boreride of cattle in the free zone, said the dependence in charge of Julio Berdegué.

The National Health, Safety and Agrifood Quality Service (SENASICA) intercepted an animal with the boreride worker (GBG), in Nuevo León, which was immediately treated to prevent an outbreak from being presented in that entity.
Since confirmation, on September 21, Julio Berdegué, Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, spoke by telephone with Brooke Rollins, secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture, about the present of the boreride worm of cattle in Mexico.
The Secretary of Agriculture shared the information of the case and the measures adopted immediately by the Government of Mexico, which are based on the joint action plan signed by both countries on August 15, 2025.
As part of Protocol, the technical staff of Senasica and the Mexican-United States Commission for the prevention of Afitase fever and other exotic animals of the animals (CPA) and the Committee on Pivetop and Pivetop Protection Committee of Nuevo León thoroughly reviewed the entire shipment from Minatitlán, in Veracruz, to detect wounds and gusions.
The cargo consisted of 100 animals, but only a head of cattle presented the infection (myiasis). To prevent any risk and contagion by the drilling worm’s fly, the flock was cured by Senasica personnel and received a treatment with Ivermectin.
“Mexico has established the identification and communication protocol in the approved fattenings of the north of the country to detect and eliminate cases immediately to prevent any incidence of the chest of the boreride worm,” he said.
The boreride worm of cattle is a parasitic plague that mainly affects animals, however, in some cases it can represent a risk to human health.
The infestation is caused by the Cochliomyia hominivorax fly, whose presence in the country generates great concern among the producers and health authorities.}
Lee: Private sector stands out for exports as the engine of the Mexican economy
In 1991, Mexico was declared as free of the chest of boreride thanks to control campaigns. However, new cases have recently been detected, which have put the livestock sector and authorities on alert.
Everything changed on November 23, 2024, when the first case of myiasis was notified by Cochliomyia hominivorax (barely worm) in Chiapas.
To stop any contagion the United States closed its border to Mexican cattle exports. Such suspension was raised in mid -February 2025, after inspection and evaluation protocols of livestock before export were implemented.
But the suspension was implemented again at the end of May 2025, due to the persistence of the problem and concern about the spread of the cheapwall.
