The Pentagon said Monday that there have been no US low in the Iranian attack on the American air base of Al Udeid, in Qatar, in retaliation for the bombardment that Washington executed over the weekend on key interests of the Tehran nuclear program.

“I can confirm that the UDEID air base was attacked today with short and medium range ballistic missiles from Iran. So far there are no reports of US casualties. We are monitoring the situation closely and we will provide more information as available,” a defense department official told the press.

The UDEID is the largest American base throughout the Middle East, it is located on the outskirts of Doha and houses about 10,000 soldiers, which had been previously evacuated. The attack was perpetrated by the revolutionary guard of Iran.

Iran had promised reprisals for the operation ‘Midnight Hammer’, the American bombardment on its uranium enrichment and nuclear fuel production facilities in Isfahán, Natanz and Fordó executed over the weekend.

The Iranian response arrives hours after the American embassy in Qatar recommended that American citizens residing in the country to protect themselves in their homes “until new notice.”
