Fura Dels Baus, considered one of the most innovative and disruptive theatrical companies in the world, returns to Mexico with its acclaimed interpretation of “Carmina Burana.”
This work, conceived by Carlus Padrissa, founding member of the Catalan company, is much more than a musical interpretation, is a total immersion in a universe of images, sounds, textures, smells and emotions that transform the viewer into an active participant of the show.
Under the direction of Padrissa, this version of “Carmina Burana” reinterprets the masterpiece of Carl Orff with a contemporary approach that fuses theatrical, musical and technological elements.
The scenario is dominated by a cylinder ten meters in diameter, which surrounds the orchestra and the choir in a structure that also works as an audiovisual projections screen. These images, carefully designed, illustrate and amplify the narrative of the work, creating a unique experience.
Among the most prominent visual and sensory elements are a giant moon that seems to float on stage, the recreation of the thaw and water waterfalls, a floral ecstasy that surrounds the space with spring fragrances, and a live harvest that mixes wine, water and fire in a spectacular display.
Every detail is designed to stimulate the public’s senses and transport it to a universe where music and theater converge in a unique experience.
Since its premiere, this production has been seen by more than 410,000 people in Europe, Asia and America, consolidating itself as one of the most successful shows of Fura dels Baus.
Founded in 1979, Fura dels Baus has built a reputation as a pioneer in the creation of innovative theatrical experiences that break with the traditional conventions of the stage. The company has continually challenged the limits of the theater by incorporating elements of popular culture, technology and interaction with the public in its productions. This approach has led Fura Dels Baus to collaborate with prestigious institutions such as the Paris Opera and the Salzburg Festival, and to present themselves in stages around the world.
The work will be presented only on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 9:00 p.m., at the National Auditorium.
